We headed over to trolley stop 1 a little after 0930. Our first tour was of the Old Jail. Remember you can click on any picture to enlarge it.
The tour guide made this tour extremely interesting.
This cage was used to humiliate prisoners. They were placed in the cage and then it was raised off the ground. They were left in the cage for at least 24 hours.
The gallows
The Kitchen. Female prisoners prepared the food and the dumb water was used to get the food up to the second floor and the male prisoners.
The Main prison area on the second floor.
Items confiscated from the prisoners.
Our next stop was the St Augustine History Museum. The Museum is part of Gator Bob’s Trading Post. As you enter the museum, The first thing you see is the Tin Can Tourist exhibit. By 1919 100,00 were members of this club and this is how some wintered in Florida.
The following are various exhibits.
We also visited the Oldest Store Experience and The Fountain of Youth but I’ll save them for tomorrow.
Catch ya later
