Thanksgiving to now

We haven’t been doing much other than sitting around reading and enjoying the warm weather.  Daytime temps have been in the 80’s with lows in the lower 60’s.  The weather for the next week will be more seasonal, highs in the mid 70’s and lows in the lower 50’s.

We had thanksgiving dinner at the AC.  You signed up for a table and each couple brought a covered dish and the Camp supplied the turkey for $2.00/person.  Here are a couple pictures of our table.

On Dec 4 I took the Jeep to get the neutral actuator replaced.  Luckily it was covered by the warranty.  Last Sunday we had lunch at Buffet City in Brooksville.

This past Monday, Beryl helped Diane make treats for the Pre K kids who where coming to serenade us on Tuesday.

We’re Back at Sumter Oaks

Believe it or not, Friday afternoon around 1400 they came to take the MH to the bay to complete the work.  Both parts had come in.  We added another item to fix the door shade. They will order a new shade and we will have to go down and pick it up.  They finished work and had the MH back on a site by 1730.  The back AC continued to act up but, we just assumed it was the power pedestal again.

Saturday morning we went for breakfast and then hooked up the Jeep.  The Jeep wouldn’t go into neutral so Beryl drove the Jeep to Sumter Oaks.  The trip was a little less than an hour.  Now we have to find a good jeep dealer for repairs.  We got our #1 site and got setup.  Turned on the AC’s and the back one is not working again.  I guess another trip to LDs is in our future.  We got signed up for the Thanksgiving dinner.  We don’t know anyone at our table, but this is a good way to meet new people.  Here are a couple pictures of our site and both ways down the road.

We’re Still at Lazy Days

We left Berwick on Sunday, Nov 10 around 1000hrs and traveled ~300 miles to the KOA at Staunton.  We stopped at a rest area in VA for a sandwich and had to repair the umbilical cord which had been draging on the road.  Monday we traveled ~275 miles to the Baileyton RV Park in Baileyton, TN.  We stopped in Wytheville, VA for fuel and food.  Diesel was $2.52 the lowest we paid.  Tuesday we travelled ~250 miles to Lyerly, GA and the home of Bea & Bennit.
Bea & Bennit have 3 full hookup sites on their property.

Wed and Thur. we visited and took rides around the countryside.  This area is rich in civil war history with many old churches and plantation type houses.  The temps got down into the mid twenties the first two nites and the bedroom heater quit working. Thank goodness for 50 amp service and electric heaters.  Bennit has had a rough year. 95% blockage of his main artery,  >85% blockage of 3 other arteries, a mild stroke and a couple other things.  He is getting around slowly and has a little problem remembering some things.  all in all he is doing pretty good.

Friday we headed south ~275 miles to Tifton, Ga and the I75 RV Park.  This is a fairly new 14 site park with all pull through sites. Saturday we traveled ~275 miles to the Lazy Days RV Park at Seffner, Fl.  Sunday we went to lunch in Brandon at Ichiban Japanese Buffet.  After lunch we moved to the LD service area park.

Monday at 1000hrs we met with Shawn, our service advisor, and went over the work to be done.  Before noon the MH was on its way to the Chassis shop to get the transmission shift pad replaced.  The MH came back to a different site around 1630hrs.  The shift pad had been replaced but they miss installed the panel holding the pad.  Tues they called around 0830 that they were ready to take the MH to the maintenance bay.  We spent Tues. nite in the bay. Mid Wednsday afternoon everything was done except for the recall work and the door closure due to lack of parts.  They knew back in Sept what would be needed but nothing was ordered until Monday.  The site they put us in had a bad power pedestal and the EMS would only allow us to run one AC unit. Oh, the parts may not all be here until Monday.

Today we just chilled around the MH and after lunch we had them move us to another site. Latest info is that the parts might be here tomorrow. I’ll believe it when I see it.

We have been eating all our meals at the Crown Club.  The food is just ok, but its free.

That’s it for now.

We're Headed North

We said our goodbyes, dumped the tanks, filled up with propane and headed out about 1030 for a 190 mile jaunt.  We got on I75 and and a few miles up the road everything slowed to a crawl  You would travel several miles at a snails pace and then go like hell and then a snails pace,  The 50 miles on I-75 took almost 2 hours.  We got off I75 and headed over to 301.  301 is the pre interstate N-S route in FL.  You go through a bunch of towns but most of the tome the speed limit is  60-65.  Next came I-10, I-295 and then I-95.  Traffic was extremely heavy.

We got to Walkabout Camp & RV Park around 1630.  We got everything hooked up and then headed to Sonny's Bar-b-q for lupper.  We leave here for Charleston on Tuesday.

Change of Plans

We had about 60 people at the Easter dinner.  The club made enough ham for over 100.

We've changed our plans.  They are calling for 70% chance of rain for the days we were going to be in Charleston so we are going to leave here Sat. and spend 3 nights at Walkabout Camp and then head to Charleston on the 9th.

The Last Dine In (OUT)

The weather here has been all over the place.  The last couple of nites the lows have been in the thirties and the days in the mid 60's.  Last week we had a couple of really windy days and we even had a thunder storm.

The campground is really thinning out.  Last week was the last Dine IN and there was no Jam session.  All but one workcamper couple finished up this week and the replacement park managers take over tomorrow.  Replacement workcampers will start tomorrow.

Since there was no dine in, Diane and her husband Wayne invited the remaining staff and the kitchen volunteers down to her trailer for spaghetti.  Diane made the deserts for the DI meals and helped with all the other preparation.
Diane

Those in attendance were:

Fran & Sharon - They are parked right behind us

Dwayne & Louise

Wanda & Wallace - Camp Managers

It was a really nice get together.  Wanda & Wallace are done Sat and leaving Sunday for a Cruise in the Gulf and then to Gillette, WY for the Escapade.  Fran and Sharon were going to head back to Wisconsin on Monday but there is still 18" of snow where they park their camper.  They are gonna stay a few more weeks.  Once they get home they will switch over to a truck camper and head to Alaska for the summer.  Later next week Diane and Wayne will head back to northern Georgia.

Sunday at 1400 we are having a dinner in the AC.  The club is furnishing the ham and everybody is bringing a covered dish.

We are planning on leaving Monday.  We will stop at Walkabout Camp near Woodbine GA and then head to Lake Aire Campground outside Charleston, SC and play tourist for several days.  From there we will head to Margie's, stop in VA and get home around April 9th or 10th.  Hopefully by then it will be warming up.

That's about it for now.

Catching Up

The weather the past two weeks has been all over the place.  Highs have ranged  from the upper 50's to the low 80's.  We had a couple of nights below freezing and some in the lower 60's.  We even had a couple of days of rain.  This past weekend was really windy. The forecast for the next week is looking like highs in the upper 70's and lows in the mid 50's.

Beryl had her teeth pulled on Feb 19 and is doing really good with the dentures.  She had to go back once to get them trimmed. My back is still giving me some problems, I've gone to three PT sessions and I'm scheduled for three more next week.  They are mainly giving me exercises to strengthen the muscles.  We'll see what happens.

We haven't been doing much of anything.  We need to get over to Tarpon Springs for some good Greek cuisine and right before we're ready to leave LD to get another temporary registration.  We will probably leave here the first or second Monday of April.

That's about it for now

Haircut Day

Today started off cloudy and went down hill from there.  It struggled to get into the low 60's.  A little after noon it started to shower on and off and it is still doing it.

Around noon we headed up to Bushnell and Howie's for lunch.  From there it was Walmart and haircuts.  We had about an hour wait.  We picked up a few items for Beryl to eat after she gets her teeth pulled and got back to the rig around 1430.

We headed up to the AC around 1645 to help get things ready for the dine in supper.  They had 98 people for the supper.  We got back to the rig around 1930, took BJ for his walk and settled in for some TV.

That's about it for today.

Dentist, Doctors & More Dentists

The highs for the last three days have been in the upper 70's and the lows in the upper 50's to low 60's.  This afternoon we had a good shower which was really needed.  The temps for the next few days will b a little below normal in the mid to upper 60's and lows could be in the 30's and 40's.

Monday Beryl had an appointment with a Dentist in Bushnell.  While at the office, I leaned over to read her info form and something popped in my back.  The dentist took x-rays and gave her pricing on several treatment options none of which we liked.  I got on the computer and made her an appointment with Aspen Dental in Brooksville for Tuesday morning.  They also have offices in Hazleton and Wilkes barre.

Tuesday I got up and could hardly walk due to back pain.  We headed to Brooksville for our 1100 appointment.  The exam included free x-rays, a complete exam, and consultation.  It was determined that most of Beryl's teeth had some type of problem and the cap from hell was coming loose again.  We decided it was time for upper and lower dentures.  They took impressions and schedule the extractions and fitting for Tuesday, Feb. 19th.  We scheduled a followup appointment for Wed. Feb 13 to complete the pre-extraction fit up.  WE had lunch at Ruby Tuesdays and got back to the rig around 1430.

Beryl took BJ for his walk and then we headed to the Walk in Clinic in Bushnell.  After a 3 hr wait I got in to see the Doctor.  He gave me a shot and a prescription for a pain pill.  We got back to the rig around 1830.  The back pain is a lot better but it still isn't totally gone.

This morning we headed back to Brooksville for our 1130 appointment and final fitting check.  We had lunch at the Golden Corral and got back to the rig around 1445.  We spent the rest of the day listening to the on and off rain.

D-Day, Denture Day, is Tuesday, Feb 19 at 1200.  The dentist said it would probably take 2 to 3 hrs and she will have a followup appointment the next day.

That's about it for today.

Thought For The Day – Don’t worry about what people think. They don’t do it very often

A Lazy Weekend

The highs over the weekend were in the upper 70's and the lows around 50.  It was partly cloudy both days.

Saturday I was up early so after taking BJ for his walk I headed up to the AC for breakfast.  They had biscuits, sausage gravy, and scrambled eggs.  The rest of the day we just chilled.

Sunday we left around 1100 and headed to Brooksville and Buffet City.  After lunch we headed acrossed the street to Samsclub to pickup a few things.  From there it was back to CVS in Bushnell and then back to the rig.

1600 was the ice cream social and then we chilled for the rest of the evening.

Tomorrow Beryl has a dentist appointment to checkout her broken tooth.  Tuesday at 1600 they are having a Mardi gras parade.

That's all for today

We’re Still Alive

The weather the last 3 weeks has been all over the place.  The highs ranged from the The low 60’s to the low 80’s.  The lows went from the mid 30’s to the low 60’s.  Most days were cloudy to partly sunny with only one or two short showers.

One morning we raked the leaves on our site and I spent a Saturday helping power wash the patio slabs at each site.  We did half of them on Sat and others completed the rest on Sun.  There were around 110 sites to do and the slabs ranged from 8 x12 to 8 x 30.  Beryl has been helping serve at the dine in suppers on Thursday and the Snacks at the Friday Jam sessions.  We've each also have read several books.

On the Jan 30th, Wed., we headed to Lazy Days to get the AC’s replaced, awnings installed, front end alignment and several minor items taken care of.  Our appointment with the Service Advisor was for 1300 on the 31st.  We were told they would probably start work on Friday Feb. 1st and be finished Tues.  You have to be out of the rig while it is in the service bay during working hours which are 0800 to 1700.  No one had come for the rig by 1530 so we went looking for Shawn our SA.  He said things got backed up and they would get it in the bay first thing Sat.  It went to the bay around 1130 Sat. They got 1 0f 3 awnings installed and change the shower nozzle.

While we were waiting at site Sat afternoon,  a van pulled into the site and it was Jack & Red Salvatora.  They are members of the Midlantic Travel Club and stay at a campground 3 miles down the road.  We passed the afternoon with them and decide to get with them to go to Parksdale Farm Market for Strawberry Short cake.  One good thing about Lazy Days is we got a membership in the Crown Club.  They serve breakfast, lunch and Happy hour and it is free and the food is not bad.

Sunday we had brunch at Bob Evans.  Jack and Red showed up around 1330 and we headed to Parkesdale Farm Market which is about 12 miles east if LD’s.  Here are Jack and Red.
P1010317_1

Here is what we ordered.  There is one Strawberry Shortcake with ice cream and whipped cream, 2 ice creams with strawberries and whipped cream and one ice cream with whipped creamP1010316_1P1010318_1P1010319_1

Needless to say we didn’t need any supper

Monday around 1100 we picked up Jack and Red and headed to Apollo Beach to see the Manatee.  Usually at this time of year there are around 100 manatee in this area because of the warm water from the power plant. As luck would have it, we saw one youngin.  We'll have try Crystal  River area next.
P1010323_1
We stopped for burgers at Steak n Shake, dropped off Jack and Red at their park and headed back to LD to see what had been done.  Our tech said rather than replace the AC’s they installed foam under them as an insulator to quiet them down.  They were a lot quieter  than before.  Around 2130 the front AC stopped putting out hot air and when we started the rear AC it sounded like a jet taking off.

I was up at the office at 0700 Tuesday to talk to Shawn.  He wasn’t in yet, but  his boss Ken, who I had talked to in Jan, was there.  He assured me the AC’s would be replaced as promised.  Around 1000 I got a call from Shawn telling me that they had ordered the wrong AC’s.  Around 1430 they still had no answer on the AC’s.  When I went to the rig at 1630, the tech had both AC’s on heat and said the ones they had received were the right ones.  He switched them to cooling and they seemed to be working ok and fairly quiet.  We left them on cooling and went to supper.  When we got back we shut them down, waited about ten minutes and switched them to heat. Guess what,  the front one produced hot air and the rear one blew cold air like it was still set to cooling.  This is where we spent Sat thru Tuesday nites
P1010325_1

Wed morning it was backup to the office.  Shawn said since they had an opening in chassis,  They would do the front end alignment and then fix the AC.  Around 1600 I tracked down Shawn to find out what was going on.  He said it definitely needed a front end alignment and they were  trying to determine whether Freightliner or Winnebago would pick up the tab.  He also said the AC had been fixed.  A little later Shawn called and said they would have about an hours work tomorrow to complete the alignment so they would move the rig to a site and pick it up first thing tomorrow morning.  We were on a site similar to this one.
P1010331_1

Thursday they picked up the rig early and it went to the chassis shop.  Remember they only had one hours work to go.  Around 1600 we headed to Shawn’s office to get an update.  He was busy and we had to wait about 15 minutes.  He said all work was done and the rig was being washed and would be moved to a site.  We headed to the rig and went to  lower the jacks and got an alarm that the parking brake was not on even though it was set.  A tech came to check it out but he didn’t have any idea what was going on. They said it would have to go back to chassis in the morning. I remembered talking to another couple that had a similar problem and it was a loose plug an the parking brake switch. I reached under the dash, found the plug and pushed it back on.  No more Alarm.

Friday morning we left LD’s a little after 1000 and got back to the campground around 1130.  We got setup and headed out for lunch, Winn Dixie and CVS.  We also stopped at a dentist so Beryl could get an appointment to have her broken tooth looked at.  That brings everything up to date.

Things are back to normal

Today started out in the mid 50's and got up into the low 70's .  it's supposed to stay this way for the next couple of days.

I was up early and went up to the AC for breakfast.  French toast and sausage patties.  Beryl did some cleaning and the rest of the time we enjoyed the nice weather.  Now that it has cooled down a little we'll have to rake the leaves on our site.

Lazy Days called to confirm our appointment for the 31st to get our problems corrected.  I hope we don't end up spending the whole weekend there.  We head down the afternoon of the 30th and take advantage of the Crown Club meals.

That's it for today.

Cooler and cloudy

Today it struggled to hit 60. It was also cloudy with no sun.

Around noon we headed to Bushnell and Howie's for lunch.  We both had all you can eat fried fish, french fries and apple sauce.  Neither of us asked for more fish.  We also hit the post office and picked us some scripts at CVS.

We are using 2 electric heaters to keep the rig warm.  Were scheduled to go to Lazy days on the 30th to get the AC's replaced.  They put the new ac's on another unit and they supposedly work ok.

Around 1730 we headed to the AC so Beryl could help in the kitchen for the jam session. We got back to the rig around 2000.

That's it for today.

Cool and rain

Today it struggled to reach 70 and it rained on and off. Tonight the low is to be around 40.  The temp tomorrow is to be around 70 again.

Today was a do nothing day.  Beryl helped with the dine in supper and that's about it for today.

Still Warm

Yesterday and today were in the lo 80's.  It was a little less humid today;  Lows are in the low 60's.

Yesterday afternoon we took a 20 mile ride on the county roads to Wildwood and the Russell Stover's outlet store.  Since our thief finished off all the sugar-free candy, we had to restock our supply.

Beryl is getting on to the Sharp microwave/convection oven.  Last night she did a real good job broiling some steaks and earlier in the week she made pork chops and stuffing.  The oven has all kinds of combination settings.

We got a late start today.  Beryl did several loads of wash.  We went to Winn Dixie to get milk and orange juice and then dropped off  some prescriptions at CVS for refills.  For supper we had baked cod loins, baked potato and a salad.

The weather for the next week or so looks like temps will be in the low 70's or high 60's.  Some nights might be down in the 40's.

Tomorrow will be dine in.  Polish sausage, pinto beans and loaded mashed potatoes.

That's all for today.

Flea Market Time

Yesterday was in the low 80's and partly sunny. The thermometer in the sun hit 102.

Around 1000 we headed over to Webster and the flea market.  The place was packed.  We parked on the east end and headed for the produce area.  We got strawberries, onions, potatoes and lettuce.  We took this back to the car and then walked through some of the pavilions on the east end.

We left around noon and went to Howie's for lunch and picked up the mail,  The afternoon was spent keeping cool in the MH.

That's about it.

We Have a Thief

The last couple of days have been in the low 80's and it's supposed to stay that way until Wed.  Lows are in the mid to low 60's and the humidity has been really high.

Beryl's knee is doing better.  Last night was the first night she slept until 0800 since last May.  She wears the knee brace whenever she goes walking.

I had gotten a 25% off coupon for Ruby Tuesdays so we headed over there for lunch.  Afterwards we went to the Sam's Club for a few items.  When we returned home, the three pieces of wrapped, sugar free candy that was on the end table by the couch were missing.  The empty wrappers were on the floor.  BJ is pleading the fifth.

Tomorrow we plan on heading over to the Webster Flea Market.  Strawberries are just starting.  The rest of the week is up in the air.  We need to get to the Russell Stover Outlet and the Homosassa Springs Wildlife Park.  What we do will depend on Beryl's knee.

That's it for today

It's Gonna Snow

The last two days have been partly sunny in the 80's and the nights have been in the low 60's. This is >10 F above normal.  We are not complaining.

Yesterday Beryl helped with the dine in supper. They had 105 attendees.  After supper we were entertained by Kenny Evans.  He put on a really good oldies show.

Today we went up to Howie's in Bushnell for lunch.  Now the reason for the snow.  After lunch Beryl said she wanted to go to the walkin clinic to get her knee checked.  She ended up getting a very weak steroid shot and told to get a expandable knee support.  Dr Ecklind said the shot was less potent than the steroids secreted by the adrenalin gland on a daily basis. We picked up the brace at CVS and Beryl wore it whenever she was out walking.  So far her knee feels a lot better.

We went up to the AC for the Jam session and stayed about an hour.  They had sloppy joes, macaroni salad and cake.

That's about it for today.

We're Still Here

Today was partly cloudy with a high in the low 80's.  Lows have been in the 60's.

We haven't been doing much of anything.  Last Friday we took BJ to PETCO for his monthly hair cut.  Friday night we went to the Jam session at the AC.  They had a real good turnout.

Sunday we went to the Golden Corral for lunch and the ice cream social at the AC.  It rained on and off Sunday nite and Monday.  Yesterday was sunny and very warm.  Our thermometer in the sun hit 104 F.  Beryl spent most of the last couple days reading.  Her knee has been bothering her.
And I quote, "There is no need to go to a doctor, what will they do".

Tomorrow will be the dine in.  Baked spaghetti, salad, and dessert.  After dinner there is entertainment.  Beryl will be helping to serve.  Friday nite will be another jam session.

That's about it.

Thought For The Day – People who say it can’t be done should not interrupt those who are doing it.

4 Day Recap

The highs have been in the 70's with the lows in the upper 50's and low 60's.  It has been partly sunny to cloudy.  Today was cloudy and right now it is trying to rain.

New years eve day we spent recuperating. Beryl has her bayberry candle ready to light.

Around 1830 we headed to the AC for the New Years Eve Party.  the theme of the party was Hawaiian.  Here are a couple of pictures. Remember click on a picture to enlarge.

The Hula Girls
Around 2130 one of the guys on the dance floor had some kind of seizure and and fell backwards with his head hitting the floor. The EMTs were called and he was taken to the hospital where he got several staples to fix his wound.  The latest info we have is that he has a brain bleed and as of yesterday afternoon the bleeding still had not stopped.  This is what probably caused the seizure and he had not been drinking.

New years day we watched the Rose Parade, had our pork and sauerkraut and watched some bowl games,  I've come down with a really bad cold.  Bj has adapted real well to the new couch.

Yesterday we loafed around the rig. Beryl did several loads of wash.

Today was cloudy and felt like it would rain at any time.  We took BJ and went to the post office for the mail.  Thanks Lorie.  It finally started to sprinkle on and off around supper time. Beryl made spaghetti for supper.  Tomorrow we'll take BJ for his monthly tune up.

That's it for today
