Now to replace the valve. Access to the heater is gained through the drawers in the bedroom.

The picture above shows the metering valve installed. The picture below shows the new installation.
And here is a picture of the defective valve.
Atwood added this valve to make a 10 gallon heater act like a 15 gallon heater. They increased the water temperature from 120F to 140F and then used this valve to temper the water back to 120F by mixing in cold water.
The heater was back in service by noon with no leaks and very hot water.
Beryl & Margie returned shortly there after. Beryl had a couple of new blouses and a Kohl's charge card.
We had a mid afternoon dinner of ham loaf, baked sweet potatoes, and broccoli.
....and THAT's the way it SHOULD be! men at home doing the repairs and women out shopping! hehehehe
ReplyDeleteWay to go ladies....oh and Jim, good job on repairing the hot water heater :-)
FYI....in conversation with Doyles Gram today, she asked if you keep in touch with Marie Taylor still? Gram gets a card every year at Christmas...I said I didn't know but that you were traveling south, maybe you'd pass nearby.
ReplyDeleteYummmo! on the hamloaf, sweet potatoes and broccoli...all my fav's
